Primary Dental Chewing Not the Enemy
Cavities is one of the most prevalent health problems. Although many children suffer, but tooth decay is a lifelong problem for many people. What are the factors that cause cavities?
The worst enemy of the teeth are foods that contain sugar and starch, such as carbohydrates. Bacteria in the mouth will change some of the sugar and carbohydrates that we eat into acids. Dibektuknya acid bacteria and become sticky deposits, called plaque, which attaches to the tooth surface.
Damaging acids and minerals formed in plaque attack on the outer surface of the tooth enamel. Erosion caused by plaque will create tiny holes in the enamel surface.
Most people think of candy sweet tooth as the main destroyer, but a sweet carbonated drink, like cola, carbonation is more dangerous because it will increase the production of acid in the mouth. Some studies also show sports drinks (sports drinks) will damage the tooth enamel due to its sugar content.
To prevent this, do the following: - Reduce consumption of sugary foods, including soft drinks and sports drinks.
- Do not be too often snack because it will increase the acidity in the mouth increases.
- If you really want to eat something sweet, choose a chewing gum that contains no sugar. Chewing will increase the production of saliva, which naturally cleanse the mouth and neutralizes acidity.
- Brush your teeth twice a day, after meals and before bed.
- Visit your dentist every 6 months to investigate and clean up the stack of plaques.
