Overtime Increases Risk of Breast Cancer
Women who often work overtime to have a breast cancer risk 30 percent higher than the normal working hours of women. Similarly, according to research by French scientists.
The scientists say, is working overtime including the risk factors that are equivalent to other breast cancer risk factors, such as genetic mutations, hormonal therapy, and first pregnancy at advanced age.
Still in the same context, the smokers had a risk of lung cancer eight times higher as well as women who often work late at night.
The study, published in the International Journal of Cancer was performed by observing the women who work the night shift, they are more than 4.5 years had a working time of the night and they are three days a week should work evenings. Research conducted on 1232 women diagnosed with breast cancer between 2005 and 2007.
"We found a strong association between breast cancer with those who worked nights in the period before pregnancy, compared with those who are just beginning to work the night shift at an advanced age," wrote the researchers.
Despite not really clear why it happens, but scientists suspect the work at night will disrupt biological clock genes and damage to the body's immune system.
