Jumbo Size Soft Drink Prohibited Sale

In order to combat obesity, New York City government plans to ban sales of soda and other sugary drinks. In the first proposed the ban, the country will impose a decent sales for sweet drinks measuring only about 474 milliliters.

With that size of the restaurants, cinemas, sports venues and vendors on the street can be marketed. In fact, the same prohibition applies to soft drinks in bottles and soda machines on Friday

ABCNews website reported that the ban 'good' for all sellers of the drink was planned to be introduced in March. But the ban does not apply to diet soda, fruit juices, milk-based drinks or alcoholic beverages. Sellers who do not comply with these regulations will be subject to a fine of $ 200 or about USD 1.8 million.

Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that he "thought the ban was a public desire".

While a Beverage Association spokesman Stefan Friedman New York City indeed criticizes the proposal was "too excited". He said officials must find the right solution for reducing obesity.

The rule proposal requires approval of the Board of Health reported to the city, where its members are appointed by Bloomberg. According to the mayor of the three periods, the city has been aggressively campaigning against obesity, including banning the bad fats in restaurant food served. Then force restaurants to display calorie counts on menus.

Bloomberg had previously tried other ways to make soda consumption is less attractive, by increasing the state tax on soda. But the act did not apply in Albania, until he tried to restrict the use of food stamps to buy soda. But the idea was rejected because they can not be done by the federal member. But the latest proposal reportedly does not require external approval, though it held a public announcement. So most likely the idea will be realized
