Weight Loss Ability to Relieve Sore Gums
If you always have problems with inflammation of the gums, you may need to cope with the diet. According to the study, losing weight may help fight inflammation of gum disease.
Some warning signs that may occur if your gums are problematic gums that bleed easily, red, swollen, and tender in the press. Unpleasant breath odor may also be a one symptom of gum disease.
But gingivitis usually does not show signs of early warning. That is one reason why the examination of teeth and gums on a regular basis needs to be done to find out early gum disease.
The researchers conducted a study of 31 obese people who are undergoing treatment of gingivitis. These patients had a mean body mass index or BMI of 39.
Half of the patients, other than gingivitis treatment through medication, also tried unyuk lose weight. In fact, some of which perform liposuction surgery. While the other half did not lose weight.
After some time, researchers re-examine the condition of the gums of the patient. The result is a group of patients who lose weight have a condition of the gums is much lighter than before when the patient has not been on a diet.
"While the group of patients who did not lose weight, keep gums disease conditions," said a researcher from Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, as reported from healthline.
Researchers claim that this may be related because of weight loss associated with insulin resistance which causes inflammation of the gums. The study is published in the Journal of Periodontology.
