Testosterone Supplements Consumption Can Lose Weight Fast
When entering old age, found many men who gained weight to obese. According to one study, obesity in men can be treated by taking supplements of testosterone, the male sex hormone.
The study also showed that elevated levels of testosterone can reduce waist circumference and blood pressure. However, not all experts agree with these findings.
In a meeting of European Congress on Obesity, experts warn that testosterone supplementation may not be the right solution because it would increase the risk of prostate cancer and heart disease.
"The idea that this is a fast method to tackle obesity is actually a simple man. But it would be much more sensible and safer to reduce the intake of foods that increase testosterone by itself," said Prof Richard Sharpe of the Center for Reproductive Health at the University of Edinburgh as reported by the BBC.
Some experts have found an association of low testosterone levels with 'menopause' in men. Symptoms include changes in sleep patterns, poor concentration, feeling of worthlessness and anxiety.
Research funded by Bayer Pharma, manufacturer of the hormone testosterone replacement therapy was studied 115 obese men aged between 38-83 years who have low testosterone levels. The men were injected with hormones every 12 weeks to raise levels of hormones.
On average, the men in peneltiian lost 16 kg body weight for 5 years when the testosterone levels returned to normal. Researchers also found no increased risk of prostate cancer, side effects are often found in other studies.
"We saw that the male hormone testosterone that lacked experience various problems such as erectile dysfunction, fatigue and lack of energy. When analyzing the data, we found that these men experience weight bada," said the researcher, Dr. Farid Saad.
It seems that an increase in testosterone to restore energy levels and cause behavioral changes become more physically active.
The relationship between obesity and testosterone is a vicious circle. There are many studies showing that obesity is associated with lower testosterone levels in men and decreased muscle mass.
Due to aging, testosterone levels tend to decline slowly, especially after the age of 40-50 years. This condition can cause a man likely to develop obesity which then leads to a decrease in testosterone levels.
