Avocados Can Increase IVF Success Program
Certain foods known to help increase fertility. Researchers reveal the Mediterranean diet with avocado and olive oil consumption could increase the success of IVF (in vitro fertilization) or test tube babies.
Researchers claim the Mediterranean diet can increase three times greater chance of success for women who were undergoing fertility treatment. This includes eating avocados and olive oil added to the salad.
A study found that monounsaturated fats found in olive oil, sunflower oil, nuts and seeds are better than other types of fat for expectant mothers.
Found a high consumption of these foods makes women 3.4 times more likely to have children after IVF than those who eat little. Instead of saturated fat in butter and red meat should be reduced.
The experts who conducted the study believe monounsaturated fats are known to protect the heart and can increase fertility by decreasing inflammation in the body.
"What kind of food is best consumed avocados have monounsaturated fat and olive oil as well," said study leader Professor Jorge Chavarro, as quoted from Dailymail.
Prof Chavaro said while interesting results is the first time known that dietary fat is associated with better outcomes in IVF. The study was conducted on 147 women who were following the IVF program at Massachusetts General Hospital Fertility Center.
"Different types of fat consumed is known to have different effects on biological processes that could affect the outcome of assisted reproduction," said Prof. Chavarro.
In addition to eating more foods that contain monounsaturated fats, expectant mothers are still advised to eat fish as well as the source of the omega-3 fats are good.
