Ancient Japanese Therapy Helps Reduce Pain and Nausea in Cancer Patients
Cancer patients typically experience symptoms such as pain and nausea when the disease relapses. Usually these two are addressed by various methods, both modern and traditional. But in fact one study found that one medicine called Jin Shin Jyutsu traditional as well get over it.
On therapy derived from this ancient Japanese touch the patient gently on his 52 points in the so-called "Safety Energy Locks" or energy security, including the location of the upper calf, upper arm and lower leg.
"It is interesting to note that regardless of age, gender or diagnosis of cancer, cancer patients undergoing treatment experience significant improvement," said researcher Jennifer Bradley, Jin Shin Jyutsu practitioner at the University of Kentucky Marker Cancer Center.
"Jin Shin Jyutsu addition also made improvements in certain points of the body without adding unwanted side effects that often occur in other treatments."
The study involved 159 patients with cancer. All the patients received Jin Shin Jyutsu therapy and after therapy sessions, all 159 patients were asked to rate nausea, stress and pain experienced with a scale of 1-10.
In general, researchers found that touch therapy resulted in reduction of 2-3 points of pain and nausea on the respondent. Though researchers do not claim to control the amount of time antartiap Jin Shin Jyutsu sessions given or the duration of the session, said Bradley as quoted by huffingtonpost, Monday (02/07/2012).
Previously, a study published in the journal Cancer suggests that yoga can help people with breast cancer that is not too tired. Physical therapy and acupuncture was sometimes also be used to treat fatigue in cancer patients.
