When Medistra Hospital Cardiac Catheterization Direct Broadcasts to India

Cardiovascular surgery with a high difficulty level takes a maximum concentration. What would happen if the operating room doubles as a television studio with a variety of broadcast equipment due to be broadcast live?

The atmosphere in the hospital operating room Medistra Jakarta today is somewhat different than usual. Not just a physician assistant and a variety of operating equipment, the room was too much equipment and sound system with a television camera cables are milling about.

"The camera is not a flame, his voice is still noise, it makes no sound?" so about the conversations that occur between physicians and the broadcast crew in the room when a patient is identified as Mr SK (67 years) will be fitted with a ring of heart due to a total blockage in one vein.

Surgery or catheterization rather this action was delayed several minutes because of technical problems in the delivery of images and sounds. Relay transmitter in Jakarta and in Singapore it works well, but the reception in New Delhi India to crash so that will be broadcast live catheterization can not be done.

Approximately 30 minutes later, Prof Dr T Santoso S, MD, FACC, FESC, who led the action catheterization was decided to start the action. Ready or not the broadcast, the action catheterization should be done because the patient may be told to wait no longer.

"We've only got 30 minutes," says Prof. Santoso after surgery in the operating room Cath Lab Medistra Hospital.

Catheterization begins by inserting a catheter or small tube through the veins of the legs, then gently pushed until it reaches the heart at the location of the blockage with the aid of X-rays Arriving at the site, the catheter and then filled the drill to pierce the crust of calcium clogging.

After the plaques were drilled and then aspirated, turns a small balloon catheter is then inserted through blood vessels to widen dikembungkan. After it was installed a ring or a stent, and in less than 30 minutes complete heart catheterization procedure which was not all doctors can do that.

Drilling operations plaques that clog the arteries of the heart and proceed with cardiac catheterization to put this ring in the end it did not broadcast live. Originally, this live broadcast will be watched by doctors who were gathered in an international scientific meeting of the medical field IndiaLive 2012 in New Delhi.

"During the meeting there will be 30 live television transmission, among others from America and Australia. We are believed to be the first live broadcast, but maybe because the first one they would actually have the disorder," Prof. Santoso regret.

Although not to be broadcast live, however, Prof. Santoso grateful heart catheterization he had just worked so well. Patients who did only a local anesthetic directly to get out of bed, and then met with the families who stayed with him.
